Denzel Washington starrer "Training Day" is being translated into a TV series on CBS. The Eye network has ordered a pilot for the possible drama series and put a hefty production commitment to it.

The series will take place 15 years after the events in the movie. Washington starred as a highly decorated Los Angeles Police Department narcotics officer, assisted by a rookie officer played by Ethan Hawke. The series will take place in the LAPD in 2015. No other plot details were released.

The pilot will be directed by Antoine Fuqua who helmed the 2001 movie. The script is written by "Gangster Squad" scribe and former LAPD detective Will Beall. Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman will serve as executive producers alongside Fuqua and Beall.

CBS had previously picked up the TV rights to other blockbuster movies such as "Rush Hour" and "Limitless".
