AceShowbiz - Fans have already known that "Bad Boys 3" and "Bad Boys 4" are officially greenlit as Sony Pictures has slated both films for 2017 and 2019 release respectively. The leading actor in the film predecessors, %cWill Smith%, has now been confirmed to be involved in the third film, but his exact role is still unknown.
In an article about new Sony chairman Tom Rothman's aggressive slate of new films, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Smith will be involved in the film. However, it's currently unknown if he will star in the film, produce, or both. With Joe Carnahan in talks to write the script, "Bad Boys 3" is due to arrive in the U.S. on February 17, 2019.
It has been more than a decade since fans saw Smith in the second installment of the action movie franchise which was released in 2003. In the film, Smith starred as Mike Lowrey, a Miami detective who tried to stop the spread of drug ecstacy. Directed by Michael Bay, the movie shone at the box office, taking in $273 million globally.
Smith's last acting credit is action drama "Focus" in which he starred alongside %cMargot Robbie%. He is currently filming DC supervillain movie "Suicide Squad" which reunites him with Robbie and in the pre-production of "Collateral Beauty" alongside %cRooney Mara%.
