The 'Thinking Out Loud' singer said he is 'delighted' with the honor, given to recognize his outstanding contribution to music.

AceShowbiz - Reaping success in music business, Ed Sheeran is about to be recognized with an honorary degree by University Campus Suffolk (UCS) in his home county, at a ceremony later this year."I've had an amazing year with my world tour and this makes it even better," said the 24-year-old singer about the honor. "Suffolk is very much where I call home and I'm always welcomed back and get so much support. Receiving this recognition is a real privilege. UCS is at an exciting point in its development and I look forward to building links with UCS and its students in the months and years to come."

Ed will be joining other honorary graduates who will be recognized by the university this autumn. "We are delighted to be able to welcome such a distinguished group of individuals as honorary graduates and fellows," chief Executive of UCS said in a statement. "The range of backgrounds and professions that are represented and the quality of those accepting the award will enhance both the graduation ceremonies themselves and the life of the university in the future."

The honorary awards will be presented during formal graduation ceremonies celebrating the successes of approximately 1,800 students held across Suffolk and Great Yarmouth in September and October. The university is yet to confirm which ceremony Ed will attend.
