Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead are heading to the Great White Way. Adam McKay ("Anchorman", "Talladega Nights") collaborate with Funny or Die to develop a stage musical featuring the beloved Riverdale gang from Archie Comics.

McKay is expected to help write the book. He described the project as "bright, colorful and slightly demented." The director previously helmed a Broadway production "You're Welcome America" which starred Will Ferrell as George W. Bush.

"Archie represents a bygone era of America. And like all bygone eras, there are elements we miss and elements that should be bygone. This will be a musical that deals with both those realities in a bright, colorful and slightly demented way," McKay said.

A feature film about Archie and friends is also in the works. Back in 2013, an untitled Archie movie was announced by Warner Bros. with Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect") attached at the helm and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") tapped to pen the script.
