In this rollicking adventure directed by Frank Coraci, the classic Jules Verne tale gets a fresh and comedic twist. The story follows the brilliant but eccentric English inventor Phileas Fogg, played by Steve Coogan, who makes a daring wager that he can circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. Accompanying him on this impossible journey is his quick-witted and resourceful new valet, Passepartout, portrayed with high-energy martial arts flair by Jackie Chan. What Fogg does not realize is that Passepartout is a Chinese thief on the run, using his master’s expedition as the perfect cover from a relentless bounty hunter. As the duo travels from Victorian London to the exotic landscapes of Paris, the Ottoman Empire, India, and the American Wild West, they encounter a dizzying array of obstacles, from hot air balloon chases to comedic run-ins with historical figures. With a lively tone that balances slapstick humor with genuine globe-trotting spectacle, the film features a host of memorable cameos, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Owen Wilson, and Kathy Bates. The central conflict lies not just in beating the clock, but in the growing bond between the rigid inventor and his free-spirited servant as they race against time and fate itself.
