AceShowbiz - Perrie Edwards has broken her silence following her broken engagement with Zayn Malik. Perrie sat down with E! News alongside Little Mix bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 4 to promote their new song "Black Magic".
The 22-year-old singer was asked how she's feeling after ending her engagement with the former One Direction member. "I'm good, thank you," she replied while flashing a giant smile. Leigh-Anne then added, "We don't really wanna talk about it."
While reports claim Perrie is "devastated" with her broken engagement, a source tells the site the breakup is for the best. "Her friends are rallying around her. She's doing fine," the source says, "They split a few weeks ago. Her close friends have told her she's better off without him."
The source continues, "[Zayn] hasn't treated her right for a long time," adding that Perrie "is doing great."
According to HollywoodLife, Perrie and Zayn, who were engaged in August 2013, had actually been struggling for several months as they became busy with their jobs. "They barely saw each other and they hadn't even had sex in over two months. The further they fell apart, the more anxious she got and the more she started pressing him to set a wedding date. She pushed and pushed and finally Zayn told her he didn't want to get married," a source tells the site. "Perrie also had to put up with Zayn flirting with other girls, and it broke her heart."
