The Golden Globe-winning actor reveals the theme of the show's second season, 'It's becoming more than just a story about transitioning, about people seeking their freedom, all of us.'

AceShowbiz - Jeffrey Tambor shared tidbits from "Transparent" season 2 at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Monday, August 3. The actor, who won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a TV Series - Musical or Comedy for his portrayal of a transgender father, revealed that his character Maura would not be the main focus of the storyline in the next installment.

"Maura is not the central figure [in season 2], but the gateway now from so many stories evolving from this decision to be authentic," he said. " 'Will you still love me if I change' - that's where we're throwing down in a wonderful way. It's becoming more than just a story about transitioning, about people seeking their freedom, all of us."

Dishing on his character Josh, who is one of Maura's children, Jay Duplass said Josh went to "a very dark place." He added, "He's a bit of a whipping boy in season 2, he has a long long way to go, and I'm enjoying getting the crap beat out of me."

Talking about Caitlyn Jenner who also experienced the same situation as his character, Tambor said, "We have met Caitlyn on a personal level, and we love Caitlyn."

"Transparent" will return for its second season on December 4 on Amazon. A teaser trailer was unveiled during the panel at TCA press tour, but it has not been made available online.
