Former star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" Kim Richards was reportedly arrested for shoplifting at Target in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, August 2. The Van Nuys Police Department told Entertainment Tonight that she was placed under citizen's arrest and spent the night in jail.

According to TMZ, a security guard arrested her for allegedly shoplifting a "bunch of items" worth more than $600. Richards was booked on Sunday at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys. However, the former reality TV star didn't stay long in jail as she was released on Monday afternoon after posting $5,000 bail. It wasn't clear yet if she was under the influence at the time of the arrest.

Richards' ex-husband G. Monty Brinson was in disbelief upon learning of her arrest report. "I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver," he told ET. "I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol or drug related."

The arrest came just a few weeks after Richards pled not guilty to three misdemeanor charges stemming from her arrest in April. At that time, the TV personality was arrested at Beverly Hills Hotel and was hit with multiple charges including public intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.
