One Direction surprised millions of Directioners around the world on late Thursday night, July 30 when they released a brand new single out of nowhere. Called "Drag Me Down", the track came as a preview of the British boyband's upcoming fifth studio album.
"Bit of a surprise ! Check out our new single! It's called Drag Me Down & I hope you love it as much as we do," the group's Liam Payne alerted fans on Twitter. He also attached a link to the song on iTunes.

On the rock-tinged pop jam, the four lads show off their new, matured sound as they talk about about someone who's been supporting them and makes them feel strong. "All my life you stood by me when no one else was ever behind me/ All these lights that can't blind me/ With your love, nobody can drag me down," they sing.
"Drag Me Down" is the first One Direction song without Zayn Malik who quit the band last March. The former boybander is now gearing up to launch his solo career. On Wednesday, he excitedly announced that he joined RCA Records and was ready to make "real music."
