Rumors about an untitled new Ghostbusters film starring Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt have been rumbling for several months. Now Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two "Ghostbusters" films, has released a statement regarding the rumors, saying that the male-centric film is not happening.

Following latest speculation which said that the movie might still happen, Reitman speaks up to clarify the situation. "There has been a lot of excitement recently about what is happening with the 'Ghostbusters' franchise. As the producer of the new 'Ghostbusters' film, I feel the need to clarify," Reitman says in a statement.

He hints that there is only one "Ghostbusters" film in the works and it is Paul Feig's untitled Ghostbusters reboot. He doesn't mention other films including the one that was going to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. "There is only one new 'Ghostbusters' movie and that is the Paul Feig directed version coming next July, presently filming and going fantastically. The rest is just noise," Reitman confirms.

However, Reitman's statement is contradictory to what he said back in March. He said that the "Ghostbusters" universe would be expanded into several projects. He also mentioned that one of the projects was Russo Brother's "Ghostbusters" film. "Paul Feig's film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers' next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It's just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies," the director teased at the time.
