AceShowbiz - A new look at CBS' upcoming series "Supergirl" is shared through a behind-the-scenes video. In the video, Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood as well as crew members kicked off the production of the superhero series which they likened to "the first day of school."

Benoist said she had been anxiously waiting for the shooting as she had been working hard to get in shape for her role as the titular superheroine. Co-stars Leigh and Harewood were equally excited to begin working on the TV series, with the latter sharing that they were filming a scene in which they're testing Supergirl's abilities and they're going to "blow her up."

"Supergirl" centers on Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton, but escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with Superman. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. With the help of Daily Planet photographer James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), her bioengineer sister Alex (Leigh), and the research of the super-secret, off-the-grid Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) and its head Hank Henshaw (Harewood), who are tasked with keeping the Earth safe from aliens, Kara takes to the skies to protect her world.

The hour-long drama will debut Monday, October 26 at 8:30 P.M. on CBS.
