LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment have locked into a deal with Warner Bros. Entertainment that will see the two companies coordinating on TV, film and original digital content projects. The announcement resparks the speculation about "Space Jam 2", in which James was reported to star.

"LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment," Warner Bros. CEO and Chairman Kevin Tsujihara said. "The combination of LeBron's global media presence and Warner Bros.' unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere," he added.

The announcement doesn't mention any potential titles and doesn't explain in what capacity James can appear in the projects. However, Brian Windhorst, a sport writer for ESPN, added fuel to the speculations about the upcoming projects. He posted a status on Twitter which mentioned that James would probably star in "Space Jam 2". "Warner Bros. owns rights to 'Space Jam'. There's been attempts by production companies to get LeBron to star in a reboot in recent years," Windhorst wrote.

Back in 2014, James was rumored to take part in the sequel to "Space Jam". The report stated that James would essentially be taking the place of Michael Jordan in the possible sequel featuring the characters from the Looney Tunes universe. However, shortly after the rumor was widely spread, Windhorst denied it.

Meanwhile, many of the movie's fans are not pleased with the report about the basketball superstar replacing Jordan in the possible sequel. Some of them tweeted negative responses to the rumor. "They are making a SpaceJam sequel with LeBron James, that kills me a little inside," one Twitter user wrote.
