Caitlyn said in a backstage interview that 'it wasn't easy' for her to get through her inspiring speech for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

AceShowbiz - Caitlyn Jenner spoke with Robin Roberts (II) in a backstage interview after accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY Awards. Caitlyn admitted that "it wasn't easy" for her to get through her emotional acceptance speech.

The "I Am Cait" star told Robin, "I knew Arthur Ashe and I sat there in the audience on many an occasion and I thought to myself, 'Boy, what if someday I could make a difference in the world and do what I'm doing, I wonder if I will ever get that?' " She then noted, "Tonight was the night."

Robin then praised Caitlyn that she was able to "hold it together" before talking about her supportive family. "It wasn't easy," the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star replied while dabbing her eyes with a tissue. "I am just great to be in a position where myself and my family have been so supportive of what is happening. You know, my kids are great. My kids are absolutely wonderful. I am blessed to have just wonderful children," she added.

On Thursday, Caitlyn shared a picture from backstage at the ESPYs, where a make-up artist and a hairstylist were seen fixing her hair and her make-up before she hit what she called the "most incredible, unforgettable night."

"Behind the scenes of the most incredible, unforgettable night. It takes a village... #GlamSquad #ESPYs," she wrote alongside the snap.
