TLC Officially Cancels '19 Kids and Counting', The Duggars Respond

The TV network is now working on a documentary involving the Duggars to raise awareness on child sexual abuse.

AceShowbiz - "19 Kids and Counting" has finally been axed by TLC nearly two months after molestation scandal involving the oldest son, Josh Duggar, came to light. "After thoughtful consideration, TLC and the Duggar family have decided to not move forward with 19 Kids and Counting," the network says. "The show will no longer appear on the air."

The Duggars respond to the cancellation, "Today, TLC announced that they will not be filming new episodes of 19 Kids and Counting." They add, "With God's grace and help Josh, our daughters and our entire family overcame a terrible situation, found healing and a way forward. We are so pleased with the wonderful adults they have all become."

"We are so thankful for our film crew that has shown up at our house for over a decade. They have become like family to us. They have invested their time and energy into our lives and have been so loving and patient. We love and appreciate them so much!" they also say. "We appreciate the love, support, prayers and kindness extended to us by many of you. You have deeply touched our hearts and encouraged us, during this time."

Weeks ago, TLC yanked the show off schedule following revelations that Josh molested young girls including her own sisters, Jill and Jessa, when he was a juvenile and his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, tried to cover it up. Many advertisers had since cut ties with it.

TLC is now working on "a one-hour documentary that will include Jill and Jessa and other survivors and families that have been affected by abuse." The family says in a statement, "We look forward to working with TLC on this upcoming special documentary and hope that it is an encouragement to many."

"TLC has been especially concerned for the victims in this situation, including the Duggar family, and it is our hope that this effort will help those in need learn where to turn for information and help," TLC states. "The documentary will be commercial free, and we anticipate it will air later this summer."
