Rachel McAdams in Negotiations to Star in 'Doctor Strange'
Movie

The 'True Detective' actress may star in the superhero movie as Clea, Dr. Stephen Strange's love interest.

AceShowbiz - Rachel McAdams is reported to star in upcoming Marvel superhero movie "Doctor Strange". According to Heroic Hollywood, McAdams is set for the lead female in the movie.

Although there is no confirmation yet, there are some speculations about the role McAdams will portray in the film. One of the sources says that McAdams will play Clea, Dr. Stephen Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) love interest.

In the comics, Clea is both a niece and close disciple of Dormammu, a master of dark magic who is also one of Strange's biggest enemy. She is a sorceress who possesses many of the same abilities as Strange. She was first introduced in the comics in 1964. Meanwhile, another source insists that McAdams won't play Clea in the film, suggesting that the most likely alternative character she will play is Morgana Blessing.

The movie is currently in pre-production, and director Scott Derrickson is prepping the movie to start shooting in London soon. Tilda Swinton is attached as the Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to play the villainous Baron Mordo in the movie.

If the report is true, "Doctor Strange" will mark McAdams' first comic book movie. McAdams is currently starring on "True Detective" season 2 as Detective Ani Bezzerides. She also stars in boxing movie "Southpaw" alongside Jake Gyllenhaal which will be released later this month.

"Doctor Strange" will follow the story of neurosurgeon, Strange, who after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. Produced by Kevin Feige, the movie will arrive in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
