Gwen Stefani is returning as a judge/coach to "The Voice". The singer is confirmed to join the original judges, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as well as Pharrell Williams who first joined the series in season 7 with her when Christina Aguilera took a break.

"I'm coming back and am so excited! I can't believe I get to return to The Voice," the No Doubt frontwoman says in a statement. "It's so inspiring to be around such incredible talent and music. I'm looking forward to working again with Adam, Blake and Pharrell. I love those guys."

Shelton additionally says, "Adam, Gwen, Pharrell and I had a blast together in Season 7 and I'm excited we're back together again. They are all so talented but I'm pretty damn excited about another winning season for Team Blake."

"With such an astounding group of coaches at the peak of their musical ingenuity and Carson returning as our host, we are thrilled for what season nine will bring," states Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC Entertainment.

Christina Aguilera skipped the upcoming season to spend more time with her family after she gave birth to a daughter. "Right now she's focusing on being a mom and new music," a source told E! Online. It's her second child and her first one with fiance Matt Rutler. She shares a son, Max, with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
