The former 'Two and a Half Men' star was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital on Monday, June 8 with a 'severe case of food poisoning.'

AceShowbiz - Charlie Sheen was sent to an emergency room in Los Angeles on Monday night, June 8 after eating "bad clams," according to his publicist Jeff Ballard. In a photo obtained by PEOPLE, Charlie poses with the first responders. He is reportedly on the mend.

Jeff says Charlie was hospitalized for "severe case of food poisoning." The publicist adds, "It was clams, bad clams. Nothing too exciting." According to Jeff, the former "Two and a Half Men" star had a seafood dinner delivered to his house and began "feeling sick" a few hours later.

"Just to be on the safe side, he went to the hospital," he explains, "They checked him out, hydrated him and sent him on his way. He was back home in bed 90 minutes later."

While Jeff insists that it was a simply case of food poisoning, a source tells Radar Online that paramedics were called after Charlie "suffered chest pains following an epic party binge." The source claims, "He was partying like a madman! He complained that his heart was racing, that his heartbeat was much stronger than usual."

"Everyone at Charlie's house was instructed that they are not to call 911 if there's a medical emergency because the information would be released with a 911 call. It's standard operating procedure inside his house that when there's an issue, you call the local fire station, so there's no record of the call," the source goes on.

"People are very worried about him," the source adds, "He's been on a nonstop party binge since splitting with Scottine. Now, especially, since someone who was very close to him before recently reentered his life."
