"Kingsman: The Secret Service" star Taron Egerton expressed his desire to play Wolverine in the next "X-Men" film. In an interview with Screen Rant, the actor said that he would love to play Wolverine after Hugh Jackman retires from the role.

Despite his desire to play the adamantium-clawed mutant, Egerton was unsure if he could fit the role. "I don't know if I'm quite grizzly enough. My facial hair is still very thin and patchy. I feel someone who plays Wolverine potentially needs testosterone in abundance. Yeah, I'd love to have a go at it, but I don't know. [Laughs] I don't know," he explained.

Egerton noted that he was with Jackman when the Australian star announced that he was soon completing his time as Wolverine. Egerton even joked with Jackman about taking over the role. "I was with Hugh the day that he announced his retirement from that role. I did joke about that very thing with him. But the phone hasn't rang yet, my friend, so I don't know," he said.

Egerton was initially considered to play young Cyclops in "X-Men: Apocalypse". Unfortunatley, he lost the role to Tye Sheridan.

There is still one more solo Wolverine movie before Jackman exits the X-Universe. 20th Century Fox is reportedly already looking for a younger replacement. Egerton is very likely to take the role since he is only a few years younger than Jackman in 2001's "X-Men".
