Vincent D'Onofrio to Tackle Villainous Role in 'CHiPs' Remake
Movie

The 'Jurassic World' actor will play an auto-stealing ringleader in the remake of 70s TV series 'CHiPs'.

AceShowbiz -

After his successful performance portraying a villainous character on Netflix's "Daredevil", Vincent D'Onofrio is now in negotiations to play another villainous character in Warner Bros.' upcoming "CHiPs" movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is set to play a former cop who has turned to become an auto-stealing ringleader.

"CHiPs" is adapted from the '70s hit TVseries of the same title about the lives of two California Highway Patrolmen, one of which always follows the rules, while the other is more on the wild side. Dax Shepard will play officer Jon Baker, a role originated by Larry Wilcox on the TV series with Michael Pena attached to play Frank Poncherello, the role that made Erik Estrada famous. According to Deadline, Shepard expects to be performing his own riding and stunts in the movie.

Details of the "CHiPS" movie are being kept under wraps, but the basic plot centers on an exotic-car theft ring. It is said to be in the vein of buddy cop movies like "Bad Boys" and "Lethal Weapon".

Besides starring in the movie, Shepard will direct, write the script and produce the movie alongside Andrew Panay. While the release date has not been announced just yet, it is said to be released next year.

D'Onofrio will next be seen in "The Magnificent Seven" remake with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt and in "Jurassic World".
