AceShowbiz - "World War Z 2" has booked a release date. Paramount Pictures has revealed that the sequel of "World War Z" is slated to hit U.S. theaters on June 9, 2017. It is the same day "The Fantastic Four 2" opens in cinemas nationwide.
Back in 2013, Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Impossible") was confirmed to take over the helming duty from Marc Forster who directed the first film. Later in 2014, Steven Knight was set to write the script of the second installment of "World War Z".
The plot details of the movie have been kept underwraps. Based on Max Brooks' novel of the same title, it is produced by Brad Pitt alongside Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner for Plan B. Pitt is also expected to reprise his role as the male lead.
The first film which was directed by Marc Forster earned more than $540 million worldwide in 2013. It also became the highest-grossing film of Pitt's career.
