Joss Whedon is reportedly eying another Disney tentpole project after leaving Marvel following "Avengers: Age of Ultron". According to a scoop from Latino-Review, "The Avengers" director is being courted by "Star Wars" team.

Rumor has it, Whedon's departure from Twitter which reportedly had something to do with online backlash from militant feminists over the Black Widow portrayal in "Age of Ultron" is actually to create a smokescreen so that he can pursue "Star Wars" secretly.

It's not known which "Star Wars" movie Whedon is possibly circling, but Josh Trank recently left a spin-off that will focus on Boba Fett's origin story. "The Fantastic Four" helmer cited his desire to "pursue some original creative opportunities."

Whedon did express his interest in "Star Wars" in the past. However, when asked by Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview what he would say if he got an offer to do a Boba Fett movie, the director said, "I can't say for sure, because that's a tasty morsel. But right now my heart doesn't go that way."

Besides the spin-off, "Star Wars Episode IX" also hasn't locked a director yet. In the meantime, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" directed by J.J. Abrams will arrive on December 18 this year. It will be followed by "Rogue One" helmed by Gareth Edwards on December 16 the next year and "Star Wars Episode VIII" directed by Rian Johnson on May 26, 2017.
