Kanye West apparently thinks that auto-tune is very important. The rapper recently ran into Cher while they were attending the Met Gala and he personally thanked her for popularizing the tool that alters the pitch of someone's vocal.

The two met at the Monday, May 4 event and posed for pictures which were later shared on social media by 'Ye's wife Kim Kardashian. A fan then asked Cher on Twitter what it was like meeting the power couple.

The veteran superstar described Kardashian as "very gracious" and added, "Kanye thanked me for Autotune. They were sweet,& seemed 2 be having fun."

Cher famously used auto-tune for her 1998 hit "Believe". West also used the singing tool for his own songs, including ones on "808's & Heartbreak" and ones planned for his upcoming album that's now called "SWISH".

Formerly titled "So Help Me God", the new West LP still has no official release date. Some tracks having surfaced from the record include Paul McCartney-assisted "Only One", "Wolves" featuring Sia Furler and Vic Mensa, and "All Day".
