The 'CSI: NY' actress is going to portray President Lanford in the upcoming second installment of 'Independence Day'.

AceShowbiz - "Independence Day 2" will have a female president. "CSI: NY" actress Sela Ward is tapped to portray President of the United States, Lanford, in the upcoming sequel to Roland Emmerich's 996 sci-fi actioner "Independence Day".
Bill Pullman played POTUS in the first one. He is expected to return for the upcoming second installment along with other original cast members such as Vivica A. Fox, Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, and Judd Hirsch.
The movie is scheduled to make its way out across the country on June 24, 2016. Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Joey King, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Maika Monroe join the cast ensemble while Will Smith is unlikely to return.
Sela Ward previously worked with Roland Emmerich in 2004's disaster movie "The Day After Tomorrow". She was last seen on the big screen in David Fincher's "Gone Girl" last year.
