Nearing its season finale, "Gotham" has released a promo that hints at what to expect from the last two episodes of the first installment. The video highlights the "legendary villains and epic heroes" of the show.

Set to a song from another hit series, "Empire", the video teases the return of Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney, who looks edgier with a new mohawk haircut. There's also a glimpse of Milo Ventimiglia's Ogre capturing Barbara.

"Gotham" returns with a new episode titled "The Anvil or the Hammer" on Monday, April 27, followed by the season finale on May 4 on FOX.

Executive producer Bruno Heller tells Entertainment Weekly that Fish Mooney returns to Gotham with one goal in mind, which is "to stake her claim as queen of Gotham." He further teases, "Her time away and everything that she's gone through has given her a confidence in herself, and an inner strength. She comes back at a moment of crisis where Faclone and Maroni are in open conflict with each other. She has the possibility of running the whole town."

Of Mooney's face-off with her former protege The Penguin, Heller says, "The conflict between them has been simmering all year, and this is the final showdown on the rooftops of Gotham."

While it has been confirmed that Pinkett Smith won't return for a second season, Heller says fans should not jump to a conclusion that Mooney will meet her demise. "Gotham is a crazy place. When you think something is going to happen the way you expect it to, things turn around," he says. "Not withstanding what anyone has said in the press, you can't ever be sure about that stuff until you see what happens." One thing for sure is that the show will end its inaugural season with "a very iconic moment."
