Fresh off releasing his debut album "Handwritten", Shawn Mendes dropped the official music video for a song off it. The Canadian singer premiered on Friday, April 17 the "Aftertaste" visuals which is seemingly the continuation of his "Stitches" video released last month.

After writing a note and leaving the house in "Stitches", Mendes' on-screen ex-girlfriend is seen walking alone through the streets around the neighborhood in the "Aftertaste" clip. At the same time, Mendes makes his way back home and somehow manages to avoid meeting her.

"It was written to be an empowering song about being broken up with and getting back up," the 16-year-old singer told MTV of the song. "It's about that somewhat passionate, angry feeling you get when you realize you don't need the person anymore and getting over it."

"Handwritten" was released earlier this week via Island Records. The record is on track to open at No. 1 on next week's Billboard 200 with more than 100,000 equivalent album units. Meanwhile, Mendes is now gearing up to join Taylor Swift on her "1989" tour which opens on May 20 in Bossier City, L.A.
