'Fantastic Four' New Official Pictures Show Clear Look at The Thing
Movie

A better look at Ben Grimm's transformation into a giant rock-like human is revealed alongside Reed Richard with his new powers.

After being revealed in a leaked photoshopped banner, Jamie Bell's The Thing is clearly shown in new official images released via Entertainment Weekly and Empire. There is also a picture on Empire that shows Miles Teller's Reed Richards with his newly-gained powers.

Josh Trank describes to EW that the tone of the film is "Dark Amblin" or a cross between Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton. Besides doing a coming-of-age-story, the director wants the remake to "feel scary and very real, more like a horror movie than a superhero flick."

"I just kinda jumped to 'body horror' in my head," he says. " 'Chronicle' is about the evolution and strengthening of unique powers. This movie is really viewing them as a curse."

Trank decided to do a mo-cap to bring The Thing to life with Ben Grimm's personality and mannerisms. "Jamie in real life is a tough guy," he tells Empire. "He exudes this strength. Ben is Reed's best friend in the archetypal, spiritual way, and you want that character to have that warmth and that strength."

The movie will arrive in the United States on August 7. Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara round up the superhero quartet as Johnny and Sue Storm or Human Torch and Invisible Woman respectively, while Toby Kebbell is cast as Dr. Doom.
