'Game of Thrones' Actor Shocked to Learn a Big Character Will Die This Season

A mysterious actor who is said important enough on the show recalls being emotional when he/she's informed that his/her character will be killed off in season 5.

AceShowbiz - "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin had said that the show wouldn't stick to the books in season 5 by killing off characters who didn't die in the books. Now, a new tidbit reveals that at least one longtime actor will be one of the victims of casualties in this season.

The mysterious cast member, who is important enough to get a trailer on the set, tells Entertainment Weekly, "It proves you should probably not read the books." He/she was surprised to learn the character's fate, sharing, "I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, 'That doesn't tally.' Because there was no way if they were sticking to the books I should be in it for that number of weeks. It seemed to me they must be writing me out."

The actor continues, "The showrunners rang me and told me, 'Your time is up in the series.' I'm disappointed but you have to accept that the demands of TV are different. I find myself being quite emotional about it. I'm going to miss it. Never mind being a professional, they're very nice people."

This, however, won't be the first time a character who's alive in the books is killed off on the TV show. In season 4, Grenn (Mark Stanley) died on the series while the actor thought he's going to be safe.

While the character who's going to die this season is still kept under wraps, a new sneak peek for the upcoming season has landed online in the form of a clip. It sees Tyrion Lannister asking Lord Varys why the Master of Whisperers freed him.

On Wednesday, March 18, the show's stars hit London for the red carpet premiere of season 5 at the Tower of London. Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie and may others were in attendance.

"Game of Thrones" returns with the fifth season on Sunday, April 12 on HBO.
