The former 'Today' host pours cold water on the rumor suggesting that she is in negotiations to return to the Peacock Network.

Katie Couric is not returning to NBC despite rumors to the contrary. The former "Today" host was reported negotiating her return to the Peacock network after her former boss and mentor Andrew Lack was brought back to head the news division.

Couric was reported to either take over "Nightly News" after Brian Williams' scandal or return to the "Today" morning show to replace Savannah Guthrie. The rumor was quickly dismissed both by NBC News and Couric who currently works for Yahoo.

Her rep told New York Post, "Katie has a longstanding friendship with Andy and has great respect for him and her former NBC colleagues. She wishes them all great success going forward, but she remains excited and focused on working with her team at Yahoo on her many interviews and projects."

Meanwhile, an NBC insider said, "On Friday morning, Andrew Lack told executives at NBC News that he and Katie have had no discussions. And the truth is she isn't welcome back at 'Today.' There's still a lot of people at the show who worked with her back in the day, and she wasn't very nice to work with, especially toward the end."
