The Black Widow of 'The Avengers' has defended John following their awkward encounter at the Oscars where she was seen giving him a side-eye when he kissed her on the cheek.

Scarlett Johansson said there's nothing wrong with the kiss John Travolta planted on her cheek on the red carpet of the 2015 Academy Awards on Sunday, February 22. Scarlett told The Associated Press on Thursday, "There is nothing strange, creepy or inappropriate about John Travolta." She also called the actor "a class act."
"The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome," she explained, "That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. Yet another way we are misguided, misinformed and sensationalized by the 24-hour news cycle. I haven't seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him."
On the Oscars red carpet, Scarlett was posing for photographers when John grabbed her waist and gave her a kiss on the cheek. The "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" star was seen reacting half-heartedly to the "Hairspray" actor's friendly gesture by giving him a side-eye.
Scarlett next can be seen in upcoming movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron" along with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. The superhero flick is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on May 1.
