Madonna had a painful-looking and embarrassing incident when she took the stage at the 2015 BRIT Awards at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday night, February 25. The iconic diva, who performed at the show for the first time in 20 years, was closing out the festivities with her "Living for Love" when she fell on the stage.
Madge, clad in a Matador outfit completed with a red-and-black cape, first stood on a platform while being surrounded by her horns-wearing dancers. She had just sang the first few lines of the track when she suddenly fell off after one of her dancers apparently tried, but failed, to pull off the cape.
The singer hit the ground hard. She later got up by herself and returned atop the platform to resume the performance.
Following the incident, Madge told fans she's "fine." She shared on Instagram an illustration of her Armani cape and explained how the whole thing happened in the caption, saying, "My beautiful cape was tied too tight. But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I'm fine!"
Madonna was hardly the only performer at the BRITs. Other names in the line-up included Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. The rapper debuted a new song called "All Day" which previously leaked several times last year.
Swift delivered a live rendition of "Blank Space" dressing in a black blazer and matching shorts. She was joined onstage by a number of male dancers in white outfits who showed off their impressive choreographed moves.
Smith, meanwhile, slowed things down with the performance of his latest single "Lay Me Down". Sheeran also excited the crowd when he sang his "Bloodstream" while playing his guitar.
