Charli XCX proves she's a punk princess with her cover of Taylor Swift's hit single "Shake It Off". The British singer turned the upbeat poppy song into a punk-rock number as she visited BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" on Tuesday, February 10.
Charli was backed by an all-female band who replaced the horns from the original with fast-paced drumbeat and guitar riff. The 22-year-old songbird also did an impressive job making "Shake It Off" sound like one of the songs she did for her "Sucker" album.
"Sucker", marking the star's second studio effort, was already released in the U.S. late last year. After several push-backs, it will finally arrive in the U.K. on February 16.
During her appearance on "Live Lounge", Charli also performed her own track called "Doing It". The song was recently re-recorded with additional vocals from Rita Ora. The duet version serves as Charli's latest U.K. single.
