Katy Perry amazed millions of football fans with her headlining set at the Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, February 1. As promised, the singer brought a lion and sharks in addition to her surprise guests as she performed a medley of some of her biggest hits during the halftime of the game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona.
Perry appeared on the stage in a dress with a flaming design while riding a giant mechanical lion and singing the empowering hit song "Roar" from her latest album "Prism". She quickly transitioned into "Dark Horse", another track from the LP, before first guest Lenny Kravitz joined her for an older hit "I Kissed a Girl".
She later traded her flame-printed outfit for a colorful short dress as she sang "Teenage Dream" and "California Gurls" with a number of dancers and two people dressed in shark costumes.
Missy Elliott then emerged on the stage as Perry's second special guest. The raptress, who previously worked with the pop diva for a remix to her "Last Friday Night", performed her own songs like "Get Ur Freak on" and "Work It" before Perry wrapped up her 12-minute set singing "Fireworks" while flying above the crowd on a "shooting star."
This year's Super Bowl also included performances from Idina Menzel and John Legend. Appearing at the University of Phoenix Stadium earlier in the day, the former belted out the national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner" wile the latter sang a soulful rendition of "America the Beautiful".
