Jim Parsons is coming to Broadway. The actor, who plays Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory", is now playing God on "An Act of God" which is an adaptation of a 2011 humor book "The Last Testament: A Memoir by God" by David Javerbaum. The production behind the play announced the exciting news on Thursday, January 29. Two angels will join Parsons onstage, but the cast has not been announced.

The play will be directed by Joe Mantello ("Wicked"). Jeffrey Finn, whose credits include "The Elephant Man" and "Scandalous", serves as producer. The show is set to start on May 5 at the Studio 54 theater.

This will not be Parsons' first stage experience. Previously, he took part in Broadway's "Harvey" and "The Normal Heart". Javerbaum, a former head writer and executive producer of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", previously co-wrote the scores for "Cry-Baby" musical in 2008 and songs for Neil Patrick Harris during his Tony Awards hosting stint.
