AceShowbiz - The untitled stand-alone Star Wars film directed by Gareth Edwards has started to hunt for cast members. According to a Tuesday, January 20 report by THR, Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"), Felicity Jones ("The Theory of Everything") and Tatiana Maslany ("Orphan Black") are testing for an unspecified role for the sci-fi adventure movie.

Mara is testing this week with some others, according to sources. However, Jones may have problems with her schedule. The actress who is nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming Academy Awards for her role as Stephen Hawking's ex-wife is cast in "Inferno" alongside Tom Hanks. The follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code" is set to start filming this summer with Ron Howard on director's chair.

Plot details from the movie are kept under tight wraps. The untitled movie is targeting a December 6, 2016 release date, while the two other standalone projects have no release date yet.

In other news, a new bit of information regarding the cast of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" emerged on Tuesday. According to Yahoo! Movies, British star Leanne Best ("The Woman in Black: Angel of Death") is among the cast members of the highly-anticipated movie.

The info was derived from a recent PR email. "Brit actor Leanne Best [is] available for interview," it reads. "Leanne is currently starring as the woman in black in 'The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death' showing in theatres worldwide. With a number of film projects on the horizon, 2015 will also see Leanne in J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated 'Star Wars VII'."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is coming to U.S. theaters on December 18.
