Someone wrote the word "rapist" all over Bill Cosby's Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and the police are not keeping quiet about it. An investigation is launched in the vandalism case as efforts to erase the words from the pavement went underway.
The photo of vandalism appeared on social media on Friday, December 5 morning, showing the words written by a dark marker. Within hours, workers buffed the star using a high-speed sander and scrubbed the words off. A clear coat was then applied to make the star shined again.
Ana Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, was alerted of the incident on Friday morning and quickly filed the police report. "The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an institution celebrating the positive contributions of the inductees," Martinez said in a statement.
She added, "When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark. The star is being cleaned up at this time."
Cosby's star was commissioned and installed in 1977 when he reached highest stardom as TV star and stand-up comedian. LAPD Capt. David Storaker confirmed that a crime report was taken.
