Christmas is near, so NBC unveils the first preview for its upcoming holiday special "Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas". The hour-long stop-motion animated movie stars "The Big Bang Theory" actor Jim Parsons as the voice of the title character who, based on the sneak-peek video, loves to sing.
In the story, Santa narrates the story of Buddy's travels to New York City to meet the father he never knew he had. Along the way his unrelenting cheer transforms the lives of everyone he meets and opens his father's eyes to the magic of Christmas.
The TV movie is based on the 2003 hit comedy film "Elf" directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell. The movie has also spawned a Broadway musical which ran during the 2010 Christmas season.
Parsons is joined by the likes of Mark Hamill, Ed Asner, Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer and Steve Higgins in the voice cast ensemble of the NBC Christmas special. It will air Tuesday, December 16 at 8 P.M.
