Katy, who previously confessed that her song 'By the Grace of God' is about her split from Russell Brand, reveals how serious her depression got after the split.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry opened up about the depths of her depression following her split from Russell Brand in an interview with Australia's "The Project" airing on Monday, November 10. "It was sad and there were thoughts, but there were never actions, thankfully," Katy said, referencing to her suicidal thoughts in the past which she described in her song "By the Grace of God".

The "Roar" hitmaker, who previously confessed that "By the Grace of God" is about her break-up with Russel, said of the emotional tune, "Then there's 'By the Grace of God', which is the first song that I wrote coming to make this record, when I was in a different place, I was in a darker place... Sometimes you can be blinded by your extreme emotions. I definitely was looking for answers, and during that time I wrote that song. And yeah, I was depressed."

She added, "I wanted to share that side of my story, because I know there are so many other people out there that have gone through things like that, and you always feel like you're the only one going through that. Well then comes along a song that speaks to you, that makes you feel like, 'Gosh, I can get through this. If she can get through this, I can get through this.' "
