Producer/director Judd Apatow and actress Laura Dern are joining forces for a female-driven comedy for Universal Pictures. The upcoming feature film will take place in the world of obsessive female football fans.
The untitled female football comedy is based on the original concept by the Golden Globe-winning actress who will serve as a producer along with Apatow. "South Park" writer Pam Brady is enlisted to pen the screenplay.
Apatow is currently finishing star-studded comedy "Trainwreck" for July 24, 2015 release. Amy Schumer, Tilda Swinton, Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Ezra Miller, LeBron James and Daniel Radcliffe are among the cast ensemble.
Dern, meanwhile, was last seen in "The Fault in Our Stars". Her next projects include "When the Game Stands Tall", "Wild", "99 Homes" and "Strings".
