The untitled Universal Monster franchise film will make its way out in 2017, a year after 'The Mummy' remake hits theaters.

AceShowbiz - Universal has booked a release date for another one of its new monster movies. Still untitled, the flick is confirmed to be released on April 21, 2017 as part of the studio's big plan to build a shared universe for fans' favorite monsters from its classic films.

"A new epic action-adventure in a series produced and overseen by the creative team of Alex Kurtzman ("Star Trek" series) and Chris Morgan ("Fast and Furious" series), the untitled Universal Monster franchise film will follow 'The Mummy' in their new initiative to revive and reimagine Universal's classic monsters for a modern audience," the studio announces.

The "Mummy" reboot will be directed by Kurtzman. It's planned to hit U.S. theaters on June 24, 2016. The official plot is still under wraps, but the remake reportedly will revolve around a Navy Seal who is cursed by visions of The Mummy during a mission in Iraqi desert.

Earlier this year, Universal also released a new take on the classic Bram Stoker story. Luke Evans starred as the blood-sucking vampire in "Dracula Untold". According to producer Alissa Phillips, the film is also a part the Monster franchise which is expected to be occupied by Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man and Bride of Frankenstein.
