Kendrick Lamar has premiered the official music video for his newest single "i". Directed by Alexandre Moors, it opens with the rapper appearing in a dark club before he takes over the streets while leading the crowd in a new kind of dance.

As he dances through the streets, Lamar sees a man getting arrested, a pair arguing in front of their house and a guy attempting to commit suicide. He eventually meets Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers, whose "That Lady" is sampled on "i", and raps the final verse of his song while sticking his head out of the window of a speeding car.

"I wrote a record for the homies that's in the penitentiary right now," Lamar said of "i" in an interview with Hot 97. "And I also wrote a record for these kids that come up to my show with these slashes on their wrists saying they don't want to live no more."

The track serves as the first offering from the Compton MC's new album which is currently still in the works and has no official release date. He has enlisted the likes of Dr. Dre and Pharrell Williams for the follow-up to his 2012 critically-acclaimed debut "good kid, m.A.A.d city".

"It's really been a process about me grabbing from these different types of inspirations that I've been growing up off of and putting them into my own batch of hip-hop," he explained.
