Movie

The Bennet sisters, though look feminine in their dresses, are all prepared to fight the undead with their swords.

Now that production is on full throttle, the first image of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is ready to be shared. The five Bennet sisters are far from the classic novel's version, wielding swords to fight the undead.

The pic from Entertainment Weekly shows Elizabeth (Lily James), Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady), Jane (Bella Heathcote) and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse) ala warrior. In this Burr Steers movie, a woman goes on a quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.

James said of her character, "Even in the original story, Elizabeth's a fighter and beyond her contemporaries in her ambitions and her ideas of women. She's a badass warrior. She's a ninja."

The story is based on the bestselling book written by Seth Grahame-Smith who adopted the work of Jane Austen. Steers re-wrote the script from the draft by "Silver Linings Playbook" scribe David O. Russell. "The first thing I did was reinsert all the Pride and Prejudice beats," Steers said.

Screen Gems has not set a release date for "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" but it's expected to be next year.
