The director of 'Night at the Museum' movies is considered to helm the big-screen take on the sandbox video game.

AceShowbiz - Shawn Levy is circling a movie adaptation of "Minecraft" video game. According to a scoop from Deadline, the "Night at the Museum" director has entered negotiations with Warner Bros. to serve behind the lens for a feature film based on the popular sandbox video game.

In addition to the "Minecraft" film, Warner Bros is trying to adapt another wildly popular game, "Temple Run", for the big screen.

Meanwhile, rival company Sony is making "Pixels" based on Patrick Jean's short film about a New York City invasion by classic 8-bit video games such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Tetris and Arkanoid. Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Ashley Benson are among the cast. It's due July 24, 2015 in the U.S.
