Lifetime has released the first teaser for "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B". The short sneak-peek video which lands online in bootleg version features Alexandra Shipp's Aaliyah showing off some dance moves before taking off her jacket and sunglasses.
The biopic will premiere Saturday, November 15 at 8 P.M. ET/PT. It is based on the book "Aaliyah: More Than a Woman" by Christopher Farley and follows the "Try Again" hitmaker's inspirational journey, from her debut on "Star Search" at the age of ten to the challenges she faced during her rise to become the Princess of R&B.
Bradley Walsh ("Turn the Beat Around") directed the TV movie with a script written by Michael Elliot ("Brown Sugar"). The cast also includes Rachael Crawford and Sterling Jarvis as Aaliyah's parents Diane and Mike Haughton, Chattrisse Dolabaille as Missy Elliott, and Izaak Smith as Timbaland.
UPDATE (Sept. 28, 2014): The official teaser of "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B" has landed online in better quality via Lifetime's Facebook page. "Legendary. Iconic. Talent is eternal and hers is a perfect example," so reads a caption of the video.
