TNT has given a pilot order to "Untitled Cocaine Project" from producers Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer. The two also team up with Jonathan Littman, Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman for the long-gestating project.

The serialized character drama will bring "the audience into the captivating, wild and unpredictable world of the Florida drug trade in the 1970s." "Masters of Sex" creator/executive producer Michelle Ashford will pen the script.

The potential new series is based on Corben and Spellman's 2006 documentary "Cocaine Cowboys". The project was originally set up at HBO.

Bay and Bruckheimer have previously worked together on blockbuster movies like "Bad Boys", "Armageddon", "The Rock" and "Pearl Harbor". Bay is currently executive producing post-apocalyptic drama "The Last Ship" which became a new hit last summer on TNT. The show has been renewed for a 13-episode season 2 by the network.
