Moore will add drama to FOX's new show as a doctor and ex-fiancee of Dave Annable's character.

AceShowbiz - Mandy Moore will put on a scrub for her recurring guest role on FOX's "Red Band Society". The singer/actress has signed up to play a doctor in the drama which is set in the fictitious pediatric ward of Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles.

Moore is to portray Dr. Erin Grace who is the chief of staff at the hospital. She is also the ex-fiancee of Dave Annable's Dr. Jack McAndrew, a top pediatric surgeon who also works at the hospital. Her role is expected to add a "soapy element" to the hospital.

"We're branching out to tell a soap on top of the patients with the hospital staff and we're adding new people," executive producer Rina Mimoun told The Hollywood Reporter. "We focus on patients, but we're building out the adult storylines so we're following their stories as well."

Moore is somehow familiar with hospital set. The 30-year-old had guest-starring roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scrubs". In the former, she was a terminally-ill patient while in the latter she was a short-term girlfriend of Zach Braff's J.D.

"Red Band Society" debuts Wednesday, September 17 at 9 P.M. It is told through the eyes of a group of teenagers who meet as patients in the pediatric ward of Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles.
