G.R.L's member, Simone Battle, had been struggling with financial problems before commiting suicide, TMZ reported. According to the site, Simone's friends and family told law enforcement that she was recently "depressed over money issues."
The family said they didn't understand Simone's financial struggles because she was having success with her group which recently finished an overseas tour. G.R.L., who was previously featured in Pitbull's single "Wild Wild Love", performed at "Good Morning America" last month. Sources close to Simone told police that "she was frustrated that she hadn't hit in the U.S. and worried she never would."
Simone was found dead in her bedroom closet in her Los Angeles apartment on Friday morning, September 5. According to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, the former "The X Factor (US)" contestant was last seen alive at 3:45 A.M. on that day. It was confirmed on Sunday that Simone's death was ruled a suicide by hanging.
