Jessica reveals her desire to play a heroine and, in the process, explains why she turned down Maya Hansen role in 'Iron Man 3'.

Jessica Chastain would love to star in a superhero movie, but she doesn't want her role to be just any character. In a chat with The Guardian, the "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)" actress expressed her desire to play an a**-kicking heroine with a "cool costume."
She was previously courted to play botanist Maya Hansen in "Iron Man 3", but the role eventually went to Rebecca Hall. "A couple of times I've gotten really close," she spilled, before adding, "The problem is, if I do a superhero movie, I don't want to be the girlfriend. I don't want to be the daughter."
"I want to wear a f**king cool costume with a scar on my face, with fight scenes. That's what I'd love," she went on. She also said, "I would have loved to have played Black Widow," who is already portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a previous interview with The Wrap, Chastain seemed to call out Marvel for delaying Black Widow film. "Where is the Scarlett Johansson superhero movie? I don't understand it, why is it taking so long for this?" she said. "This woman clearly shows that people want to go see her in the movies."
