Michael Douglas and Orlando Bloom are on board a thriller directed by 007 film helmer Michael Apted. It has been announced at the Toronto International Film Festival that the actors are slated to join Noomi Rapace in "Unlocked".
From a script by Peter O'Brien, the film tells the story of a CIA interrogator who unwittingly provides information to terrorists and then must race against the clock to stop a biological warfare attack on London. Rapace stars as the CIA agent while Douglas and Bloom's roles are still unknown.
Alex Walton and Ken Kao of Bloom introduced the film to buyers at the festival. "I am delighted to introduce this fresh, smart European thriller to buyers in Toronto," Walton said. "With three major studio movies in production, Noomi Rapace is becoming one of the hottest female international stars working today. When you add Michael Apted, Michael Douglas and Orlando Bloom, you have a commercial package that I am confident will draw strong interest."
Silver Reel will finance and produce alongside Lorenzo DiBonaventura. Principal photography begins November 3.
