There are still two weeks before "The Big Bang Theory" returns, but fans can get sneak peeks at the upcoming season 8 in newly-released photos from the first episode. In one of the pictures, Sheldon is seen having a good time in Chicago, taking a selfie with the background of pictures of iconic landmarks in the city.

The fun, however, soon ends as Sheldon lands in trouble that causes him to lose his pants. He stops by a police station before Leonard and Amy pick him up. Meanwhile, Penny who rocks a new short haircut has a job interview.

An official synopsis for the episode reads, "Leonard and Amy take an unexpected road trip to Arizona to pick up Sheldon. Meanwhile, Penny interviews for a job at Bernadette's company, and Howard is weirded out by Stuart's relationship with Mrs. Wolowitz."

According to showrunner Steve Molaro, "Amy's not pissed at him for leaving, but she's certainly not thrilled that when he ran into trouble he called Leonard instead of her."

As for Penny who tries her hand at a new career, Mayim Bialik who plays Amy recently said that Penny had "always been the socially dominant one in our character dynamic, so I think it's really special that she'll be competing in a different arena."

"The Big Bang Theory" season 8 kicks off Monday, September 22 at 8 P.M. on CBS with an hour-long episode.
