Cute Volcano Sings in Trailer of Pixar's Short 'Lava'
Movie

An active volcano named Uku longs for love as he sings a lava love song for a mountain across the ocean.

AceShowbiz - Pixar debuted a teaser for its short animated film "Lava". Clocking in at less than 40 seconds, the teaser introduces a volcano named Uku who sings a Hawaiian love song for another mountain named Lele.

The song Uku sings resembles Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". The short film's director James Murphy admitted to Yahoo that the late singer's version was the inspiration. "I thought that if I could marry the rich imagery and with the power and emotion of music, then I could really make something cool," he told the site.

Singer Kuana Torres Kahele provides Uku's voice and is one of the inspirations behind the volcano's face. Late actor Jackie Gleeson and the cartoon bulldog in the Looney Tunes short "Feed the Kitty" also make up the face.

"Lava" is a seven-minute movie which will debut in U.S. theaters in June 2015 attached to Pixar's feature film "Inside Out (2015)".
